New year. New decade! It’s an excellent time to make a new start on all your wellness goals.
Here are a few tips to help you launch your life in January.
Write Down Your Health Goals
Do you want to lose weight? Find the right nutrition for you? Do you just want to get out of the house more?
Write that stuff down. Write it down right now. Put it on a piece of paper and stick that somewhere you’ll see every day. Say it like this, “In 2020, I will…” then write it down in words clear and specific. Get yourself a big marker and write it in bold letters and put it on your fridge.
Make a Health Inventory of Your Larder
Now that you’ve set some health goals, it’s time to make your habitat support your goals.
Being alive in this age means slowly accumulating stuff. It just seems to show up.
Some of the stuff we end up with doesn’t help us with what we want to do.
Go look at everything in your house that’s edible. If it doesn’t support your health goals, get rid of it. I’m sure you have some friends who would be happy to take those potato chips off your hands.
Put Encouraging Literature Places Where You’ll Trip Over It
If you have a stack of books you’ve been meaning to get to, you’re just like about ninety percent of the people I meet.
You give yourself a better chance of actually picking up to read these encouraging books if they’re in your way. It’s a good idea to put them where you’re more likely to encounter them. If you need to move a book in order to get to the coffee pot, you’ll handle that book at least once every day. That creates a hundred percent more contact with that book than if you keep it on a shelf where it’s out of the way.
Welcome Back to the Roaring ’20s!
The beginning of the year is a great time to start or to reaffirm wellness goals. A lot of people are on the same wagon, and community support helps like nothing else. Start your year out right.
