Too Busy for your Health

You are a busy person. You rush and rush around trying to do all the things for all the people. Every day is a sprint. You take on too much on the job. You run the bake sale at your child’s school because it’s important to be engaged in their school life or maybe you are a scout leader. You often eat in the car, because that’s the only time you are still enough to get anything in your stomach. You are on the board for an important cause you really care about. You make sure to book in social events because your sweetheart is important. What am I forgetting? House projects, helping your buddy move, homework, cooking, errands, other family obligations. Every night you collapse into bed for a nap. Every morning you get up and pull yourself together for the sprint all over again. You are spreading yourself so thin that you’re practically tracing paper.

Sound about right?

What if you were working so hard on “getting things done” that you were working yourself away from your goals? What if your sprint was leading right to a cliff? At the bottom of that cliff is sickness, anxiety, depression, weight gain, pain, or worse – death.

“I’m too busy” actually means “It isn’t a priority”.

“I don’t have the time” actually means “I won’t make the time.”

If your health and wellness are suffering because you aren’t making it a priority and won’t make the time, maybe it is time to rethink, reset, and readjust. Take yourself out of the race long enough to evaluate what is going on, and what needs to change. If you aren’t taking care of your whole health in the long run, something is going to fall apart. Maybe you need to stop being busy and start being healthy. You need all aspects of your wellness to be the best you!
